Q: If I want to paint my walls red, how can I prevent it from looking too dark or gloomy?
A: Take the lighting in your space into consideration. If you have abundant natural lighting in the room, fears of “dark and gloomy” can be banished. If there isn’t much light it is important to supplement with artificial lighting, which can do much to enhance the color while creating a warm glow. Testing colors with samples is also a great way to determine if a color looks too dark or too strong in a room before making a final decision.

Q: How do I decorate with red as a neutral?
A: If red is to be used as a neutral, it is important to select a variation on red that is earthy, or has qualities reminiscent of a neutral. For instance, Texas Rose 2092-40 is a muted red that can serve as a neutral by complementing other finishes and materials, while still maintaining the strength associated with the color red.

Q: What type of finishes can I get Caliente in?
A: Caliente is available in a range of finishes from flat to high gloss. The first thing to consider when making a sheen selection is what look are you trying to achieve. A matte finish will have little to no gloss so the walls will look almost velvety. On the other hand a high gloss will have high reflectance so the color may appear slightly lighter, but more dramatic and possibly more formal. Every finish is extremely durable, the choice comes down to the look you want to achieve.

Q: What other color from the Color Trends 2018 palette can I use if I am interested in a light color palette?
A: A great attribute of the 2018 palette is that there is a range of hues that will appeal to a variety of tastes. For lighter colors, Moonshine 2140-60 is a very pretty pale, or Pleasant Pink 2094-60 is a sophisticated option. For a pale neutral Peau de Soie AF-60 will complement other colors and interior elements.
